Let’s Get Cooking receives £20 million from The Big Lottery Fund
Let’s Get Cooking, a partnership project between the School Food Trust, Magic Outcomes, Prince’s Trust, Business in the Community and The Improvement Foundation, has been awarded £20 million from the Big Lottery Fund.
This money will enable Let's Get Cooking to develop 5,000 after school cookery clubs over the next five years. This ambitious project will enable 1.1 million children, young people, their families and the wider community to learn new cooking skills and eat ‘good food that is good for you’.
As part of the project our sister company and social enterprise Magic Outcomes (www.magicoutcomes.com) has been awarded £186,000 to support 20 of the UK's poorest schools as they create community based cookery schemes. This is great news for Magic Outcomes, gaining national scale and recognition. It is also great news for existing Magic Breakfast school communities, who will be included (if they so wish) in a funded programme to create whole school support for improved cookery and nutrition.
Magic Outcomes will support school leaders to engage parents and children in an enjoyable food skills programme, starting in London in September, and in Yorkshire during 2008/9.
